Gareth has extensive experience working within community and creative learning settings having led large scale socially engaged projects for the National Theatre of Scotland, Royal Lyceum Edinburgh and The Tron Theatre, Glasgow amongst others.
These include co-Directing Large scale productions for the National Theatre of Scotland including The Tin Forest: South West; a six month residency working closely with the residents of Penilee in Southwest Glasgow, celebrating the communities links to Glasgows industrial heritage and culminating in a large scale promenade performance performed by professional actors and local residents alike.
Directing Under Milk Wood by Dylan Thomas for the Tron Theatre as part of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2014 cultural programme, bringing together a professional live band with members of the Tron Young Company to create a brand new musical adaption of Under Milk Wood.
Working on the Seven Doors Project delivering multidisciplinary artistic activities to young vulnerable people in Secure Units and Special Schools in Edinburgh over an 18 month period
Designing and delivering creating learning programmes for a range NTS productions including Blackwatch, Molly Sweeney, Macbeth and Futurology.
Leading and Directing numerous Youth Theatre projects including roles of ‘Creative Partner’ for several NTS Exchange Festivals and NT Connections festivals and directing work for Lyceum Summer On Stage, Macrobert Youth Theatre and The Tron Studio Company.
Gareth now regularly runs masterclasses and workshops for actors, directors and theatre practisioners at all stages of their careers as well as mentoring several artists working in Scotland.
